Exquisite Corpse Life Drawing
Exquisite Corpse Life Drawing Performance
ACEM Scientific Conference 2012
Concept and Performance
Role of Performance Artist
Performed as a Life Drawing Teacher where emergency medical doctors were asked to draw nude models in poses inspired by neo-classical paintings about grief and compassion. This performance asked doctors to see the human body in a different way than they had been trained to approach it, and to explore issues around vulnerability and empathy/compassion. The exercise also encouraged self-care and a welcome disengagement from the intensity of a scientific conference. Sessions remained booked out and a waiting list throughout.
